It had listed a William Cook and several other known associates and in-laws of my Wm C Cook. Today I found the final probate papers for Wm McCoy's estate.and this particular listing shows him as William C Cook which is further evidence that it was my 2nd Great Grandfather. It took over 10 years to settle this estate.</div><div><google-sheets-html-origin><table border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" data-sheets-root="1" dir="ltr" style="border-collapse: collapse; border: none; TN Deed Found Using FamilySearch Full Text Search<p>This is not a full transcription but it contains the information that is more than a bit exciting to me that I found using FamilySearch's Full Text Search that they made available in FamilySearch Labs and announced during RootsTech 2024.</p><p>In the 1830 time period, my Wm C Cook was living in the same neighborhood as Zephaniah Anglin. Information found in the TN State Supreme court cause of <i>Williams vs Putman </i>places Anglin in that area with Cook near by and the tax records show Anglin continually in Dist 9 of Bedford Co TN during the 1830s. There is an Elizabeth Cook who I believe to be Wm C Cook's mother as head of household in 1830 and have blogged about that including my belief that she is the Betsey Harrison that married Wm Pope Cook in August of 1806 in Franklin Co. North Carolina.(Bond dated 13 Aug 1806)</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidDWpQ-w8RFAwEeZsjEfTxwvy3eDnD63XZwNyaVIYC-g-dKZCQTfi3YVPXK-2CF0rrxGjpmxYVmKu5nwOapLM_IvQqIoGPV6BkCHc0RTsYPTBPjHT00mPYn8zCCqcFyjeIl3BsJT3cR9NKBwBVLt6-aet6va4qONc0jfNrgF_IHpEC87Hq4kX3Dg/s1187/1830Eliz.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="602" data-original-width="1187" height="325" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidDWpQ-w8RFAwEeZsjEfTxwvy3eDnD63XZwNyaVIYC-g-dKZCQTfi3YVPXK-2CF0rrxGjpmxYVmKu5nwOapLM_IvQqIoGPV6BkCHc0RTsYPTBPjHT00mPYn8zCCqcFyjeIl3BsJT3cR9NKBwBVLt6-aet6va4qONc0jfNrgF_IHpEC87Hq4kX3Dg/w640-h325/1830Eliz.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>The Thomas Callen and the Daniel Dwiggins are on the full page of the 1830 that is immediately before the page which contains Elizabeth Cook, the Harrisons and the McClains.</p><p>========</p><p>lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of <b><span style="color: #2b00fe;">Alexander Cree</span></b><b><span style="color: #2b00fe;">k</span></b> adjoining the land of <b>Josiah McClain</b>, <b>Daniel Dwiggins</b> a tract formerly owned by <b>James Cooper</b>,<b> Elizabeth Cook</b> and others Bounded as follows beginning at a Black Oak & Dogwood near South of the place old man <b>Harrison</b> lived & died - Beginning thence south Eighty nine degrees west crossing a large branch two hundred poles to a stake in the road and near a dogwood and Elm marked<b> I.T</b>. thence south one degree east one hundred and sixty two poles to a cedar in a large cedar glade on flat thence north Eighty nine degrees east two hundred poles to a Dogwood & Cedar on <b>Culverhouses</b> line formerly <b>Martin Comes</b> line, thence north one degree west thirty six poles to a small dogwood & elm the said <b>Culverhouses</b> formerly Comes corner thence west ten poles to a hickory thence north one degree west, Eighty poles to a stake near an Elm & black Oak marked<b> I.T</b>. It has really been a great experience. I still have a lot of work to do but will focus on the timeline in an upcoming post. This post focuses on Wm C & Elizabeth's son, Jefferson Gideon Cook.</div><div><br /></div><div>I believe I've finally sorted thru records and determined how many times Jefferson Gideon Cook was married and identified his children from each marriage. It really wasn't very clear as there were two women name Mary listed as his wife with a Martha sandwiched in between. Some trees had the two or all three combined and others had overlapping marriages or discrepancies in the surname of the last of his wives. So what do the records say as far as Gideon's marriages?</div><div><br /></div><div>On 9th September 1866, Gideon was married in Williamson Co. TN to Mary S. Hamer by Park Street. Mary was the sister-in-law of Gideon's brother, James Polk Cook who had married Harriet Hamer in October of the previous year. When he made application and bond for the marriage on September the 8th, his brother James was his bondsman. Mary Hamer Cook was the mother of Robert L. Cook, Gideon's oldest child who was born on the 16th of May 1868. The information on Robert's death certificate and in his obituary supports that. Both Hamer sisters were gone by the 1870 census. I have not found divorces for either from the Cook brothers and feel it is likely they both left their marriages by death rather than divorce If anyone that has researched this family knows I'd love to hear from you.</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEibKLPkFmvFoTr08rO4tKeBVoiUjWu935fkZpN8yqD6l7QpaCxT0unsYx8naD6_4eoRX7WungEsau_DROJwwCjIODoABy05GV5dxUPc1-M-4ekk3U1VHntHsGFA4cYPd7gKkknDZr9wlP40UrKyL2BQnSzS0lSkORnI8hvlDBAoD32LnY5mnzfodw" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="847" data-original-width="563" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEibKLPkFmvFoTr08rO4tKeBVoiUjWu935fkZpN8yqD6l7QpaCxT0unsYx8naD6_4eoRX7WungEsau_DROJwwCjIODoABy05GV5dxUPc1-M-4ekk3U1VHntHsGFA4cYPd7gKkknDZr9wlP40UrKyL2BQnSzS0lSkORnI8hvlDBAoD32LnY5mnzfodw=w267-h400" width="267" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>By the time of the 1870 census, there is a female named Martha Cook listed in the household with Gideon and his young son. While I have not found the marriage book listing for Gideon and Martha, I did find their marriage in a Tennessee state compiled index at Ancestry from the Rutherford County Tennessee record books. The date given is 30th of October 1869 and that would seem to add credence to my thinking that this is his wife and not a lady by that name living there to care for the young Robert. I had considered both scenarios. Further, Martha Ann Hale is listed as J. G. Cook Jr.'s mother as well as the mother of Gideon's youngest child Martha Ann Cook on each of their death certificates. The fact that Gideon was the informant on his daughter Martha's death certificate while terribly sad, gives me confidence enough to conclude that Martha was the daughter of Gideon and Martha A Hale Cook. Perhaps the elder Martha had died in childbirth or from complications soon after. A number of times when that happens the surviving child is named after its mother and that might have been the case with Martha as well. In total Gideon and Martha had 4 children: Jefferson Gideon Cook Jr, John R. Cook , Cass B. Cook and Martha A. Cook.</div><div><br /></div><div>Faced with the prospect of raising his young family alone, on the 14th of October 1884, Gideon married to Mary J. Elliot in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Mary is enumerated with him in the 1900 US Federal Census in Rutherford Co TN and her entries say she has been married for 15 years and is the mother of one child who is alive at the time of the 1900 census date. That child was Ollie Mai Cook. Ollie's year of birth varies over her lifetime but I believe that her actual year of birth was 1885.</div><div><br /></div><div>Ollie's Birth Year</div><div>Source-----------Year</div><div>1900 Census<span> 1885</span></div><div><span>1910 Census<span> 1885</span></span></div><div><span>1920 Census<span> 1888</span></span></div><div><span>1930 Census<span> 1888</span></span></div><div>1940 Census<span> 1886</span></div><div><span>1950 Census<span> 1885</span></span></div><div><span><span>Soc. I do understand that there are not many German testers, but this was an area with a high amount of German settlers--among them Beckman, Braun, Weidekuehn, Gessell, Bossert, Ritter, Wirth, Those lines are represented in Thrulines so I don't feel like it is a lack of testers.</p><p>I checked her matches at MyHeritage from her DNA upload and found a Gessell descendant among her DNA matches. Not one from Phillip Leonard Gessell the immigrant, but a generation further back with descendants still living in Germany who have tested. This totally made our day. Worked on adding more information to that portion of the tree and added the segment to DNA Painter for my daughter's chromosome painting. The Gessell line is back thru the ancestry of Brittany's paternal grandfather. I have attached a screenshot below showing how it appears in her chromosome painting at DNAPainter. She is fortunate that 3 of her 4 grandparents have DNA tested and I am able to use that to do a visual phasing of her chromosomes to determine each of those grandparents contribution to her DNA.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpTJByONvr5qW0GZskXI2BN9EuD9OKXKJb1ze3b3LpCOGmzg_myxf6VfO_UsP6UZj9NkEqmRuNx7xF4EGlHrZ2K8h52sHsZWbCpA3vY0uQV024UMr_JKSYAr3QTh8P48nQmEQVgxRl9dHD_83OfqioGfGawaI4SOUbwKV24bHcXYiT4QX4jyIVSA/s996/Brits%20Gessell%20dna.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="370" data-original-width="996" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpTJByONvr5qW0GZskXI2BN9EuD9OKXKJb1ze3b3LpCOGmzg_myxf6VfO_UsP6UZj9NkEqmRuNx7xF4EGlHrZ2K8h52sHsZWbCpA3vY0uQV024UMr_JKSYAr3QTh8P48nQmEQVgxRl9dHD_83OfqioGfGawaI4SOUbwKV24bHcXYiT4QX4jyIVSA/w640-h238/Brits%20Gessell%20dna.png" width="640" /></a></div><p>Found some additional info for the Gessell line and then started working on her English lines at FamilySearch. Her Folley line was the most recent of any of her ancestors to immigrate to the US. I like to work on that line at FamilySearch since I cannot justify getting a World Explorer subscription for just that one portion of my research, especially when I can find records for that area elsewhere for free. </p><p>Worked on getting her ancestors linked in the FamilySearch tree so that her fan chart would fully display. She was impressed and it really didn't take much work once I had the more recent generation linked.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQYoGRcEX_LbBSdnjTJRBtIOQBFXYeR9JbuKlnk8fboRqZEtJkjJMoXVzMMCFkfVz5tURx2dAuRcXWKMmm-DBf4rrdwx9JEXQI_2U7EWRDDyJ0w_AGgfE6nrQRUfB5vUDoa2nHCM28cbiYcZxz2lOIrin04AGEzEG1FLeWi4L0slSz27Ilj7B9tA/s1191/BritFSFan.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="754" data-original-width="1191" height="406" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQYoGRcEX_LbBSdnjTJRBtIOQBFXYeR9JbuKlnk8fboRqZEtJkjJMoXVzMMCFkfVz5tURx2dAuRcXWKMmm-DBf4rrdwx9JEXQI_2U7EWRDDyJ0w_AGgfE6nrQRUfB5vUDoa2nHCM28cbiYcZxz2lOIrin04AGEzEG1FLeWi4L0slSz27Ilj7B9tA/w640-h406/BritFSFan.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div>Marie Cooke Beckmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00862948653538575553noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6867192.post-89592642790565321932024-02-13T14:31:00.005-06:002024-02-23T20:47:09.156-06:00WW1 Draft Registration Card of Jefferson Gideon Cook Jr.<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjPeXWIWxEs7waHksUDe-Kpq1ZPxA4fmDhYYqS98gWINLCwxqvjaoQ8HL5uJifqJ3B4gezX-lBB7Av6U9SyDEUMAh7OzFOO6VO-M2nINd0ZdqT5xlIP5LuS4nZeN9RhYgaNWc98yr370cK0Lqzi9zdtvuNBmnD9ZARmUrqdjfBEJ7GhhtvTY9Tg7w" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="158" data-original-width="814" height="62" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjPeXWIWxEs7waHksUDe-Kpq1ZPxA4fmDhYYqS98gWINLCwxqvjaoQ8HL5uJifqJ3B4gezX-lBB7Av6U9SyDEUMAh7OzFOO6VO-M2nINd0ZdqT5xlIP5LuS4nZeN9RhYgaNWc98yr370cK0Lqzi9zdtvuNBmnD9ZARmUrqdjfBEJ7GhhtvTY9Tg7w" width="320" /></a></div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>World War I Selective Service System Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918<br />of Jefferson Gideon Cook Jr.<div><br /></div><div>He is my Papaw Cooke's paternal first cousin. Their son George Jakes was my 2nd great Grandfather and was born in 1820 in Franklin Co VA. I do not have the census for them that year(1820.) The family was in Bedford Co TN by the time of son James Jakes’ birth in 1825 and the remainder of their children were born in TN. There are a good bit of descendants from John Jakes son of James & Nancy Harger Jakes so more work has been done on his line. <br /><br />I had no idea that James served in the War of 1812. I just happened to do a search on the surname Jakes at the BLM site and found the listing below. I would recommend checking the BLM GLO site to see if any of your ancestors applied for and received a warrant but opted to sell it. <span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span face="Arial, sans-serif" style="font-size: 11pt; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC7-Mn5iOUg18Af2ZU2CJRHzX5rSntUTMffVzRdzFzumiPcsY9HtXrj-voFyzrH5C45tC7kHoxYfZ1RfPlBKnLWhI6cbrvmLFhanBJhLMbr7-zzT3QnW-MVnXphRVgdm423c99sD4dE-ALF9z32gTl_Nv0AWDvWEchnjz0W8uHNm6ABWrFXoxcjQ/s1050/Jakes%20BLM.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="220" data-original-width="1050" height="134" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC7-Mn5iOUg18Af2ZU2CJRHzX5rSntUTMffVzRdzFzumiPcsY9HtXrj-voFyzrH5C45tC7kHoxYfZ1RfPlBKnLWhI6cbrvmLFhanBJhLMbr7-zzT3QnW-MVnXphRVgdm423c99sD4dE-ALF9z32gTl_Nv0AWDvWEchnjz0W8uHNm6ABWrFXoxcjQ/w640-h134/Jakes%20BLM.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><p></p></span>Looking at the individual entries it appears that James serviced under Capt Jones in the Virginia Militia during the War of 1812. Nancy filed for bounty land under the 1850 Act as well as the 1855 Act and sold the warrants as many did. I have copies of the Land Entry Case Files. I placed an order for Nancy's Bounty Land Applications but the Archives couldn't locate it and feel like it is either lost or misfiled. Many times the Bounty Land Applications are placed in with the pension files but with neither James nor Nancy applying for a pension that did not happen in this case.<div><br /></div><div><b>Bounty Land under the 1850 Act:</b><br /><div><br /><a href="#"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEik_mb5w9oA3h0RkQGvEF8i_W4BzgBunL2DaNA66K-AJrQi0IC57KmkADIQrJBJJjTTPkkCgnmaj62NhukDX8_kjxhVfTUu_67kRTP97WmdeayRiRXrUgchsBD_dXlDhMUqAkpPLkDb35C0wiLKie8yjhPObxzUCOHEWxg8yyfFtNXIepsBXugaMQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="758" data-original-width="1049" height="462" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEik_mb5w9oA3h0RkQGvEF8i_W4BzgBunL2DaNA66K-AJrQi0IC57KmkADIQrJBJJjTTPkkCgnmaj62NhukDX8_kjxhVfTUu_67kRTP97WmdeayRiRXrUgchsBD_dXlDhMUqAkpPLkDb35C0wiLKie8yjhPObxzUCOHEWxg8yyfFtNXIepsBXugaMQ=w640-h462" width="640" /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></a></div><span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><br /></u></span></div></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj0a8IWR7W4uv6TzmZ1veptW5bq8_Mi-W6GO-gT0FRaow53Q_-h9H3TyzluOPzLaK_Zqd8Gfd9iwXXKE3F_IljySt0CM1-34G5XtyLJnN9FMKUL2VMafkMIarfuBCjdWfTIJN6RHd9oHMXOCUF344Ll6waZWndmSIJzffTGfTn2Hr9WR1f8C9ccrQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="946" data-original-width="701" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj0a8IWR7W4uv6TzmZ1veptW5bq8_Mi-W6GO-gT0FRaow53Q_-h9H3TyzluOPzLaK_Zqd8Gfd9iwXXKE3F_IljySt0CM1-34G5XtyLJnN9FMKUL2VMafkMIarfuBCjdWfTIJN6RHd9oHMXOCUF344Ll6waZWndmSIJzffTGfTn2Hr9WR1f8C9ccrQ=w474-h640" width="474" /></a></u></span></span><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b>Transcription From back of Warrant:</b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><div>For Value Received I Nancy Jakes widow of James</div><div>Jakes to whom the within Warrant No(blank) was issued</div><div>do hereby sell and assign unto William C Davis & George Trumbull of</div><div>St Clair County Illinois to his heirs and assignees forever</div><div>the said warrant and authorise him to locate the same </div><div>and receive a patent therefore. What I didn't know was that Henry had been previously married as well. Today I finally found his 1880 Census entry. While Henry Hill is a fairly common name, the Mother's birth place and his occupation give me a high degree of confidence that this is the Henry Hill who later married Tennie.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiSYx2PnAntv4Y5Tf9Ig_7LCRdsH4EgFxVUZZRXJkQ49euGIBtEKO3JhebO-s5ggoCh4L4se-vfukySF7hvKw4_MmHp1BXvPGpzzUWorbQRCMEZjABtALvZ3iVvhKQ5ZmPwPg9qQEN3rktqLWBe1D8DFh_kMbw4lj_RIdmZQvqMi33PWXs-4F3zpQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="357" data-original-width="1315" height="174" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiSYx2PnAntv4Y5Tf9Ig_7LCRdsH4EgFxVUZZRXJkQ49euGIBtEKO3JhebO-s5ggoCh4L4se-vfukySF7hvKw4_MmHp1BXvPGpzzUWorbQRCMEZjABtALvZ3iVvhKQ5ZmPwPg9qQEN3rktqLWBe1D8DFh_kMbw4lj_RIdmZQvqMi33PWXs-4F3zpQ=w640-h174" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">1880 U.S. Federal Census, Jasper County, Missouri, population schedule, Sarcoxie, enumeration district (ED) 62, p. 404B, dwelling 197, family 202; Henry Hill; digital image, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com : accessed 3 February 2024); citing NARA microfilm publication T9, roll 694.</div><br />And his wife Isabella is 12 years his senior(according to the census entry) has also been married before and has several adult children. Prior to her marriage. her name was Isabella Blake I found Isabella and her 1st husband in the 1870 Census. So now that I have an idea of how those marriages map out, I'd like to find either a divorce or a an obituary or death record for Isabella Blake Johnson Hill some time between 1880 and 1884. Jasper Co MO is about 150 miles north of Fort Smith Arkansas. </div><div><br /></div><div>I have been researching the children from Isabella's first marriage and where they ended up and believe that Isabella and Henry's marriage ended in divorce or at least separation since I found her buried in KS in the same cemetery as her daughter and under her previous surname. So I've been compiling a list of what locations to check. In Missouri that would be Jasper, Newton, Berry, and Lawrence Counties. If Henry filed after he got to Arkansas then the counties to checkn are Madison, Newton, Franklin, Sebastian, and Logan Counties </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh7MNXDxK7LGh3d2hw0529agnTpVcmiQ3sS79lgymEsS06TpSpBpRr4YeR5vySEFcQEQ7s_RZhYh4XirlMoMghq4UL9Ah0LKlYt2U3aaMvn-b2RvR7ZxvNh6ER_077HKIZrTAVdexuZgkigXGPldhZjilBLmyGOwlaUNpnrt9TvZ8aFSVZA_1COEQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="472" data-original-width="452" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh7MNXDxK7LGh3d2hw0529agnTpVcmiQ3sS79lgymEsS06TpSpBpRr4YeR5vySEFcQEQ7s_RZhYh4XirlMoMghq4UL9Ah0LKlYt2U3aaMvn-b2RvR7ZxvNh6ER_077HKIZrTAVdexuZgkigXGPldhZjilBLmyGOwlaUNpnrt9TvZ8aFSVZA_1COEQ" width="230" /></a></div><br /></div><div>In the Henry F Hill investigation file, some of the documents in the case are dated 1883 and the information on those give the impression that Henry Hill has been in the Huntsville Madison Co. It's a new tool and I would expect to deal with these issues if I were beta testing, or it were free. I do not have a lot of patience for things like this when it comes to something that I will be paying close to $120(at the monthly rate of $9.99) if I were to remain subscribed to it for the entire year. Folks who are on a fixed income in today's economy will likely not either. </div>Marie Cooke Beckmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00862948653538575553noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6867192.post-72178554285381824952024-01-01T12:26:00.001-06:002024-02-09T20:41:17.420-06:00Transcription Homestead Application No 7026 Lawrence Co ArkBelow is my transcription of the documents contained within the Land Entry Case File No 7026 of W. It was offered as a members-only series and it is worth every bit of the price of membership and more. I have learned so much from this series.<br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/01/progress-with-cook-research.html" target="_blank">Breakthru in my Cook research</a><br />Continued with to grow my <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/01/understanding-our-ancestors.html" target="_blank">collection of books</a> for my personal library focusing on the sicknesses my ancestors faced--Tuberculosis, Influenza etc.<br /><br /><b>February</b><br />Did a LOT of cluster research: Harrisons, Lightfoot/Deberry, Hights<br />Discovered more documents about <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/02/georges-time-at-eastern-state-and.html">George Solifelt's time in the State Penitentiaries of PA</a><br /><div><br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/02/elvira-harrisons-bounty-land-warrant.html" target="_blank">Wm & Elvira Cooper Harrison's Rev War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant File</a><br />https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/02/elvira-harrisons-bounty-land-warrant.html<br /><br /><b>March</b><br />RootsTech 2023<br />Did a lot of reading thru records at FamilySearch.org with great success.<br />Was able to find my maternal <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/03/divorce-emma-sanders-vs-dallas-sanders.html" target="_blank">Great Aunt's divorce records</a>.<br />Studied my Grandparent's neighbors from their <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/03/grannys-charlotte-street-neighbor-mrs.html">Charlotte Street years</a>.<br /><br /><b>April</b><br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/04/19-things-you-can-do-to-enhance-your.html" target="_blank">Celebrated 19 years of writing this blog!</a><br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/04/george-solifelt-and-wife-in-columbus.html" target="_blank">Found another mention of George Solifelt in a newspaper.<br /></a><br /><br /><b>May</b><br />Worked in Fold3 records a good bit and was busy with life outside of genealogy much of May.<br /><br />About two times a month for the past several years, one of my fellow researchers has been hosting a Zoom Genealogy Chat. I try to attend as many as possible.<br /><br /><b>June</b><br />I transcribed the affidavit of <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/06/statement-by-wm-harrison-of-his-rev-war.html" target="_blank">Wm Harrison which detailed his Revolutionary War service</a>. I really need to work on an outline of his Pension file.<br /><br />Purchased more genealogy books and worked on organizing and cataloging my library at LibraryThing<br />Ordered and Received the Court Martial File of George Solifelt from <a href="https://gopherrecords.com/" target="_blank">Gopher Records</a><br /><br /><b>July</b><br />Apparently the theme for July was LAND as I worked on land records for each of the Adcock, Frizzell, Harrison, and Putman families. <br />Found a <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/07/prenuptial-agreement-elizabeth-j.html">pre-nuptial</a> for the widow of a Great Grand Uncle.<br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/07/george-solifelt-court-martial-file-aug.html" target="_blank">Transcribed George Solifelt's Court Martial File</a><br /><br /><b>August</b><br />More Land records research. This time the focus was on the Jakes Coffee Co TN land.<br />Tinkered with <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/08/myheritage-releases-photodater-tool.html" target="_blank">MyHeritage's PhotoDater</a> tool using a few photos from my collection.<br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/08/william-p-cook-witness-on-rutherford-co.html" target="_blank">Found a Wm P Cook listed as a witness in 1817 Rutherford Co TN</a>.<br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/08/wm-c-cook-bedford-co-tn-district-101846.html" target="_blank">Found Wm C Cook in District 10 of Bedford Co TN 1846<br /></a><br />August was a tough month health-wise as I had multiple scans which determined that my breast cancer had metastasized.<br /><br /><b>September</b><br />I focused mainly on research in the newspapers in September. <br />It was the month I was receiving radiation treatments so that played a big part in my productivity.<br /><br /><b>October </b><br />Revolutionary War Records was the them for this month's research. I finally made the time to go thru Nathan Frizzell's file and found a few other pension files which helped with collateral research.<br /><br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/10/using-dnapainter-for-analysis-of.html" target="_blank">Looked at a Mystery DNA Group of matches using DNAPainter<br /></a><br /><b>November</b><br />Had some really great research time in the Franklin Co NC Probate & Deed records at FamilySearch.org which was cut short when a <a href="https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/comment/536899#Comment_536899" target="_blank">"system change at FamilySearch restricted access to images in several United States historical collections."</a> They hope to have that issue resolved soon.<br /><br /><a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/11/testing-tasks-using-chatgpt-35.html">I tested out ChatGPT 3.5</a><br /><br />Ordered and Received a copy of my <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/11/david-pitman-goes-to-court-charged-with.html" target="_blank">2nd Great Grandfather's Federal Court Records</a><br />from NARA-ATL <br /><br /><b>December</b><br />Found a <a href="https://mariegen.blogspot.com/2023/12/a-cancelled-land-transaction-in.html" target="_blank">cancelled Land Transaction</a> that could potentially be that of my 2nd Gr Grandfather. I ordered it from Gopher Records and had a great turn around on the order. Still working with analysis of the documents to try and determine if it is my Wm C Cook and if not, the identity .
